I spent a large portion of today reading/editing/revising the first 1/3 of my book. This is the portion that used to be a short story (plus some), so it’s the part that I’ve gone over several thousand times with a fine-toothed comb. For instance, the first two chapters have been workshopped twice in two different classes (all different people, or I wouldn’t have done it). One section I went over really well because I read it aloud to a group of poets (bad idea, but dang I like that section).

So that’s about 33,000 words edited pretty well.

Next: the rest of it. I’ve revised portions of all the work I’d done before this past summer, and then of course everything I wrote in the race against time since June is virgin territory. The hard part, in short, is ahead of me.

But I’m very happy to have spent some time on it. Very pleased with self, etc.
