60,000 words!
Milestone reached today: I’ve tapped 60, 000 words into a single Word file. I’m not, sadly, done with this file, this so-called novel. I figure I have about 20,000 left to go, and then a lot of cleaning up to do, before I can start to feel good about it as a draft.
But 60K. I’m happy about this particular milestone, because when I typed in my 50,000th word, the year was 2007. Yes. There was a gap. I gapped. I also wrote another book (of short stories) in there somewhere, but still. I regret the gap and am happy to be progressing again.
More news from today. I asked the Internet gods how to make a bug bite stop itching, and the Internet gods answered: toothpaste.
It works.
Also, I just had the first peach of the season. Life, as they say, is good.
